One Foot Forward
Reflections on healing
By Milena Cifali
Following on from the success of her first memoir, Mallacoota Time The Lost Summer 2020, award -winning musician and author Milena Cifali’s book ‘One Foot forward - reflections on healing’, is Milena Cifali’s own account of a traumatic car accident which left her hospitalised, and unable to walk; the fact that this occurred immediately after returning to Mallacoota to seek closure after the bushfires of 2019 which destroyed her home, musical instruments, and compositions, only makes the trauma more harrowing.
Milena reflects on the meaning of adversity and ways of healing, inviting the reader to journey with her as she does so. Milena Cifali is a published poet, ‘Love Politics Art Ideas’ 2019 and ‘Messages From The Embers’ Bushfire Anthology 2020.
She resides in Brisbane with her partner Jim, one cat and eight birds. ‘In my healing process, I am now trying to reconnect with the child in my heart: I still my mind, focus on my breath, the breeze, the present; let everything else take care of itself. I surrender.’
